Born on May 23, 1962 in Medellín, Colombia, José Alberto began his education in art at the age of 15 and graduated from Instituto de Bellas Artes with a degree of Master in Fine Arts in 1982.  Concurrently he attended the School of Architecture at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and graduated with a degree in Achitecture and Urban Planning  in 1984.

Since early in his career, the art of José Alberto, which he considers a commitment to personal evolution to himself and society, has been on display in more thant 41 group exhibitions and a similar number of solo exhibitions in Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Panamá, Honduras, Mexico, United States, Spain, Italy,  Switzerland and United Arab Emirates; giving always much to talk about to critics and writers.
